Favorite Flower of the week:ORCHIDS!

There are several reasons why Orchids are one of my favorite flowers!  Who can resist their sophisticated beauty?  Orchids make a spectacular addition to any room in your home or office!   They make a beautiful and welcomed gift for any occasion.  And,Orchids share their lavish splendor for such a long time. Cut Orchids may last up to 3-4 weeks and Orchid plants can last for more than 3 months when properly cared for.  Many customers tell me that Orchids they receive from My Favorite Flowers remain beautiful for months.

long lasting Orchid Plant Arrangements

Please allow me to share with you some tips that will keep your Orchid plants looking their very best for many months to come:

Light - Orchids like filtered light;do not place them in direct sun

Water - Water once every 7-10 days – slightly more when it’s warmer, less when it’s cooler. Allow the water to drain out the bottom;do not let your Orchids sit in standing water.

Humidity –Gently mist Orchid plants during morning or early afternoon hours. I usually do this 1-2 times per week.

Fertilize –Use a liquid Orchid food about once a month. Water the plant before fertilizing. Follow package directions when fertilizing.

Air –Orchids thrive in an environment with adequate airflow, but be sure to situate them in an area free of cold drafts.

Temperature –Keep daytime temperature between 65° –75°F/18° –24°C;it is best if nighttime temperatures drop by only a few degrees.
